Stunning set of 4 “Monk” chairs designed by Afra and Tobia Scarpa for Molteni in 1973.
In the design for the Monk chairs, Afra and Tobia Scarpa paid the utmost attention to the expressive qualities of the materials, studying shapes and finishes suited to communicating them.
The seat and backrest are in original Molteni black leather, in excellent condition, fitted onto two steel tubes according to a shape that makes the seat very comfortable.
The legs in solid national walnut are connected in pairs by interlocking joints and clearly show the fixing of the crosspieces.
The overall conditions are excellent with some tiny signs of aging on the leather, which give the set its originality.
