Description
Collection of four beautiful polychrome majolica planters. ‘Nevers’ manufacture, second half of the 18th century. The planters are in the shape of ‘commodes’, typical French bedside tables, which feature three lively curved drawers. Painted entirely by hand with the ‘Trompe-l’oeil’ technique, a naturalistic painting technique based on the use of chiaroscuro and perspective, which reproduces reality in such a way as to appear in the eyes of the viewer as an illusion of reality. Typical technique of productions from the South of France.
Really excellent condition despite its age. Presence of chips at the edges.
