A lovely and stunning statement Secretaire / Escritoire, in the form of a tall chest of drawers / tallboy. The piece is decorated in red boulle work that it is inlaid with brass. It has an ebonised frame with brass ormolu figure heads on the top corners which is finished by a slab of white marble on the top of the chest. Each external drawer, as well as the drop down leaf, is secured with their own lock that is unlocked by the same key.

 

The drawers are in the most part, in quite good condition. There is however some damage that should be mentioned in the form of some minor brass inlay missing from the sides (which has been filled with a good coloured filler in some places) as well as a crack to the corner of the marble on the top. Other than what is mentioned, there is no other substantial damage that should be mentioned and really only exhibits wear commensurate with use.

 

The chest measures 73cm W x 37cm D x 127cm H.
