Description
A fabulous mid 18th century commode or chest of drawers from the period of Louis XV, this has a provincial Rococo style and has the feel of the massive about it. Made of walnut, it has a beautiful colour and will make a great storage piece for any home.
– Excellent original condition.
– 2 hessian lined drawers.
– Carved cabriole front legs, with carved apron between.
– Shaped top.
– Heavy brass handles with decorative escutcheons.
– Panelled sides.
– Keyhole in the top drawer above the escutcheon, although no key available.
In good original condition showing wear consistent with age and use. There are characterful signs of old woodworm throughout, as expected for a French piece of this age. There is some damage from this to the front left leg, although this is not obtrusive.
