Description
This 19th-century chest was originally used by a Chinese pharmacy to organize and store herbal medicines. A statement piece brilliantly constructed with mortise and tenon joinery, it has 39 drawers, each beautifully dovetailed together. Drop-ring hardware pulls dress each drawer front, contrasting against the wood’s rich, dark lacquer finish. An excellent example of the era.
Â
Very good antique condition. One missing drawer pull. Scuffs, losses and scratches to top surface, commensurate with age and use.
Â
Measures 57.5″ wide x 46″ high x 21.5″ deep.
