Description
An elegant Edwardian inlaid mahogany bureau bookcase, featuring a decorative ornate cornice and twin astragal-glazed doors enclosing two fully adjustable shelves, perfect for displaying books or treasured items. Below, the fall-front bureau opens to reveal a fitted interior, ideal for writing or storage, while three spacious drawers with decorative metal handles provide further functionality.
The piece stands gracefully on classic bracket feet.
With its refined proportions and fine inlay detail, this piece exudes timeless charm.
It has developed a lovely patina through age and use, adding warmth and character. There is some fading to the front elevation, and a small section of wood is missing from the upper right side of the bookcase (see photographs), and some veneer missing from the bracketed feet, though these imperfections do not detract from its overall beauty or integrity.
Solid and sturdy, this bureau bookcase is both decorative and practical—a true testament to Edwardian craftsmanship. For ease of movement and transport, it conveniently separates into two sections.
