The “dot period” in Meissen porcelain refers to the 1763-1774 period, also known as the Academic Period. This era is characterized by a dot placed between the hilts of the crossed swords mark, a distinct feature differentiating it from other Meissen periods. The dot period followed the Seven Years’ War and is associated with a focus on academic, classical designs, and a return to a more refined style after the war’s disruptive period.
The dot period is a significant period in Meissen porcelain history, reflecting the artistic and social changes occurring in Europe after the Seven Years’ War.
