A wonderful antique Georgian / Regency Derby porcelain porter mug with a shaped moulded handle, twin banded body, and a gilt bordered rectangular reserve containing a painted landscape of a castle atop a hill, bridge over a river, and trees, flanked by gilt anthemion and foliate decoration, and beneath a band of floral scroll decoration centred by the initials “R L”, painted red mark to base with gilder’s number “2” for Joseph Stables. A beautiful Porter Mug.

 

Circa early 19th century

 

Good antique condition with some areas of wear to gilding, particularly the rim, raised band, handle. A few small nicks to foot rim (most possibly from manufacturing?), other small manufacturing glaze faults, red mark slightly faded all as expected and commensurate with age but please view images. A wonderful Porter Mug
