An unusual antique novelty double-ended Wager Cup / double-ended Measure / Drinking Vessel / Wedding Cup, profusely decorated with flowerheads. With full English Assay Marks for Sheffield 1898 and makers mark CooperBrothers
The item is too big for a double-ended Egg Cup, and probably too big for a double-ended Spirit measure, unless it is for extra generous portions, so we are calling it a double-ended Drinking Vessel / Wager Cup / Measure.

Wager Cups originated in Germany in the 16th century, the wager cup is a drinking vessel intended for use at a wedding ceremony, giving rise to the alternative name of ‘wedding cup’. The Groom would drink from the larger cup and the bride the smaller one. They were also used for drinking games in Victorian England, where men bet on whether they could finish one cup without spilling from the other.
