An unusual antique dark amber glass novelty, naively engraved Love Token Hock Bottle; the front engraved with a violinist and a dancer and text ‘a happy New Year’, within a floral panel. The reverse with a tree with hearts and text ‘William Wilson’, again in another floral border. A band of decoration around further up. A very nice and unusual item. Possibly of Scottish origin

This is not our usual genre but could not resist it.

Difficult to photograph, images disappointing.

Circa probably early / mid 19th century but could be earlier

Good Condition

13 7/8th inches (35cm) height X 3 inches (7.5cm) dia approx

We have been told that this William Wilson is the same person that later worked with Stephenson steam locomotives and later formed the German railway system but unfortunately I have been unable to find any information confirming this. We were told that this person in his earlier career worked with glass? A very interesting Love Token perhaps with historical importance and merit.
