Introducing rare Collector’s Masterpiece:
YOCHI OHIRA, DE MAJO Murano Glass Vase

Elevate your collection with this exceptional piece by Yoichi Ohira, a distinguished Japanese artist who seamlessly blends his native aesthetic with the rich traditions of Italian glassmaking. Crafted in collaboration with master blower Vittorio Ferro in 1990, this large cup from the Ombre Azzurre series is a testament to Ohira’s mastery of form and technique.

This stunning vase stands at an impressive height of 22.5 cm with a diameter of 29.5 cm, showcasing the meticulous artistry behind its creation. Part of the Blown Glass Collection, it features incalms and twisted rods, with a touch of opulence brought by the inclusion of gold leaf in the base. The engraving “De Majo Murano 1990 Y. Ohira” authenticates its origin and adds to its allure.

Documented in the De Majo Catalogue under the I Vetri Soffiati Collection, this masterpiece is a testament to the artist’s dedication to his craft. The vase is in excellent condition, with no defects to report. It comes with a rich history, having been part of the exhibition at the Correr Museum in Venice and recognized in the prestigious Murano Prize.

Yoichi Ohira, with roots in Japan and a deep connection to Venice, beautifully marries two distinct cultures in his glass creations. The vase is a harmonious blend of the natural beauty of Japan and the timeless techniques of Italian glassmaking. Ohira’s journey, from studying at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts to receiving accolades for his dissertation on the “Aesthetics of Glass,” culminated in this remarkable series.

This vase holds a special place in the world of glass design, and its acquisition is an opportunity to own a piece of Ohira’s legacy. The artist’s work is featured in renowned institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Cooper Hewitt, the Smithsonian Design Museum, and the Museum of Fine Arts, attesting to the global recognition of his talent.

Indulge in the beauty of Yoichi Ohira’s unique creation, where the transparency of Murano glass meets the elegance of Japanese aesthetics. Add this masterpiece to your collection and experience the legacy of a true visionary in the world of glass art.
