A fabulous box from the highly sort after silversmith William Comyns. The lid has some fantastic pierce work combined with equally stunning repousse work. Bells and an image of a horse and carriage can be seen with a couple being waved off. The box originally would have been a wedding piece as can be seen from the decoration. The body has some very pretty scroll work and sits on four elongated feet. Hallmarked for London 1903.
