Mid-Century Scandinavian Gold; Brown Sommerso Glass Bowl, 1950s

This glass bowl was manufactured in Scandinavian during the 1950s. Made of art glass in the Sommerso technique, which in Italian means immersed. This technique involves repeatedly placing a colored bubble in a transparent crystal. It is a difficult process, but it makes an impression of three-dimensionality and illumination inside the glass mass. This vase has a golden-brown colour and its form refers to the designs of Gunnar Nylund, who was a pioneer of decorative arts in the Mid-Century Modern era and is one of the most important people creating ceramic objects in the 20th century.

This bowl is in original vintage condition. It has slight scratches on the bottom and an unidentified signature.
