An unusual antique oriental carved nut/natural material egg shaped Box that unscrews in the centre probably to hold a sewing thimble. Marked inside S/P. Stood on a hand carved hard stone stand of pierced cylindrical form.

The material of the Box I think is Tagua Nut but please make your own mind up before buying – Looking with a lens I can see light crazing on the surface if that helps.

Circa probably early 20th century but again please decide for yourself

Good antique condition

2,5 inches (6cm) height X 1.5 inches (3.5cm) dia approx
