She exhibited at Manchester Academy, held several successful one-person exhibitions, and made submissions to the RA. Jean continued painting well into her 90’s.

She served in the VAD during WW2 and later worked for Professor Blackett during his work on, among other things, cosmic rays for which he won a Nobel prize.
