Åke Rudolf William Arenhill (1920 – 2018) was a Swedish artist, set designer, publicist and lyricist. He studied at the school of Scandinavian painting. He painted landscapes with motifs from the West Coast and Scania. In the 1950s, Arenhill worked in the advertising department of the Swedish agency Telegram. He was the author of a series of advertisements for Yaxa deodorant and Perplex makeup cosmetics. Arenhill also directed the play Apollo of Belac and created the set for the famous play Tolvskillingsoperan by Berthold Brecht at the Lilla Teatern in Lund. He also created posters for Theater 23 in Malmö, founded in 1959 by Per Åhlin and Lennart Bratt. In 1967, he directed his own short film The Visit. He also worked in the press, radio and television as a producer and presenter. He was the host of the television program Tro’t om ni vil, which was broadcast in two rounds from 1977 to 1979. In 1990 he produced The Tale of the Flying Dutchman, a musical monologue about the life of Cornelis Vreeswijk. The piece was translated into Dutch and performed by Jules Croiset. Åke Arenhill wrote the Swedish lyrics for the song Like a bridge over dark waters. In 1994 he created a poster for the Kristianstad / Åhus Jazz Festival. Åke Arenhill also designed card games, both the classic ones and the now-popular four-color games among poker players, where the diamonds are blue and the clubs are green.
