Vintage black early 1970s flying saucer desk/table lamp influenced by the atomic age of the moon landing and UFO sightings. Very streamlined version of this iconic, mid-century shape with clean lines and no extraneous elements. Exact attribution to maker is unknown, though the plastic “under shade” was made and is stamped by Duralastic Lamp Products Co. from Detroit. Very much in the style of Walter von Nessen.
The base, column and top shade is made of metal, and the white under shade is plastic. The top knob and the center metal at the base are chrome. The finial screws off so you can lift off the top to change the bulbs.
In excellent electrical working condition; no damage to cord or plug. Scratches and wear to the painted surfaces as depicted in photos.
Measures 16.5″ tall and 14″ diameter.
