An interesting Chinese Red Lacquered Altar Table/Sideboard.

This elm wood table stand on four rectangular section legs with carved frill and interesting decorative carving.

It is thought to be 19th century.

It has one strong drawer with attached brass pull. Removing the drawer reveals a large secret void which can also be used for storage.

This would probably have been used to display a Buddha figure with the draws storing incense, rosaries etc.

The table is very rustic in its construction and finish and due to its age has a wonderful patina.

The carvings each side are again rustic but detailed and gives this piece some real character.

It has considerable signs of use, age u0026 wear, however, this is the charm of this particular item and serves to show its authenticity.

The table has the remains of a Chinese wax export stamp circa 1960-80.
