Edmé Samson (1810-1891) was a French porcelain decorator and the founder of the company Samson et Cie, which was known for its high-quality reproductions of porcelain, particularly Chinese export styles. Samson established his firm in 1845 with the goal of producing replacements for valuable porcelain pieces in museums and private collections, often replicating 18th-century European and Chinese porcelain. While the reproductions were intended to be clearly marked, some were later deemed to be skillful imitations that are difficult to distinguish from the originals.
Designs from the factories also includes copies of of Chelsea (Gold Anchor), Meissen, Sèvres, and Derby inclusive of most styles of Chinese export porcelain.
