This oriental rug was made in Afghanistan during the 1970s. These rugs are hand knotted by Turkmen people in central and northern Afghanistan. Natural dyes, usually vegetable plant dyes, are used to obtain rich colors. The rugs are mostly medium sized. Many patterns and colors are used, but the traditional and most typical pattern is the octagonal elephant foot [buchara] pattern, often with a red background. The weft of the carpet is made of wool, and the warp is cotton.

The carpet is in original vintage condition. Has traces of age-related wear. The rug will be professionally cleaned and ready to use before shipping.
