This is the most fabulous and very rare vintage painted wooden tiger from Kashmir, Northern India. Dating from possibly the 1950s or 1960s, this stunning tiger is beautifully modelled, and really gives an impression of a powerful, muscular animal about to leap or attack. This dramatic, realistic tiger has been pictured by a table lamp for scale. Will look amazing in any room of the house but please note this is not a toy and should not be played with by children. After all these years he still has his fine, delicate teeth and handling it too much may damage them which would be a great pity. A good size at 32cm long. Extremely good vintage condition with just an old repair to tip of tail which does not detract and just a little scratch to his nose but hardly noticeable amongst all the other painted markings. Tiny spots of loss of paint to back of ears but barely noticeable and only adds to its vintage authenticity. A fabulous item – I have never seen another one like it. You find more modern rough simplistic carvings from India these days but they are a world away from this rare beauty.
